Arch Bridges
Recognizable landmarks in Harrisville Township are the arches over Block River and State Route 421.

Build by B&O Railroad, construction of the Black River Span began in 1892 and was completed in 1907 at a cost of $500,000.  250 men worked on the bridge. The Black River crossing is three perfect half circles approximately 50” in diameter, built of wedged stone of uniform size.  Foreign stone cutters were brought in to cut the large pieces into their shapes.
